1. Good point about the ability to view bugs by status, we'll add it.

2. For the icons on the left, the last icon (the arrow) is a collapse/expand button to view the names of the items in the menu, like this:

We'll change the default setting to make it open by default as per your suggestion.

I really like this idea.

We've changed the default colors for new projects but couldn't for existing projects. You should be able to change this in the project settings by clicking on the color next to the status' label.

Not sure we have any control over this sadly.
