Choose status when adding bug

Now when I adding a bug, I have to edit him to change status.

Can you give me an example of why you would want to do this? Why is a bug not "New" when you create it?

When I found a bug, or get a suggestion from a colleague I add a bug to Damn Bugs. But it's already confirmed, because I added it by myself.

But if possible, only project managers and developers can change statusses
